What is this? In March 2026, Andrej Karpathy — former head of AI at Tesla and co-founder of OpenAI — analyzed 342 occupations to estimate how much AI will impact each one. He used Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data combined with AI analysis to score every job.

What's the BLS? The Bureau of Labor Statistics is the U.S. government agency that tracks employment data — how many people work in each job, what they earn, and whether the field is growing or shrinking.

Here's what the numbers mean:

🟢 AI Exposure 0–3 (Low Risk)
These jobs are mostly hands-on, physical, or deeply interpersonal. AI helps with small tasks but can't replace the core work. Think: electricians, nurses, firefighters.
🟔 AI Exposure 4–5 (Moderate)
A mix of physical/people work and computer work. AI can handle some information tasks, but the human parts are still essential. Think: police officers, managers.
🟠 AI Exposure 6–7 (High)
Mostly knowledge work done on computers, but still requires human judgment and relationships. These roles will change significantly. Think: teachers, accountants.
šŸ”“ AI Exposure 8–10 (Very High)
Almost entirely done on a computer. The core tasks are things AI is already getting good at. These roles will be transformed the most. Think: data entry, copywriting, bookkeeping.

Other numbers:

  • šŸ’° Annual Salary — Median pay (half earn more, half earn less)
  • šŸ‘„ Jobs (2024) — How many people currently work in this role in the U.S.
  • šŸ“ˆ Projected 2034 — How many people the BLS expects will work in this role in 10 years, and the change (+/-)
  • šŸ“Š BLS Outlook — The government's official growth forecast (from "Much faster than average" to "Decline")
